Adult Education

Adult Education at the Massapequa Reformed Church reflects a wide range of interests and needs of our members and friends. We study the Bible, discuss current events, look at our own denominational history and that of other traditions, gain a better understanding of other faiths, and much, much more.

We learn from the Bible and aim to center our lives on the teaching and leadership of Jesus Christ. Adult Education has thus included sessions like:

  1. Lord, Teach us to Pray
  2. The Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and Life
  3. A study of The Book of Revelation

We have a need to care for others and ourselves. Hence, Adult Education has included sessions like:

  1. 'Tis a Gift to be Simple — A study on simplifying life and lessening need for material goods
  2. Help Yourself Help Others…Community Resources for Health Care
  3. Prepare Yourself… Wills, Living Wills, and Trusts — A seminar on long-term planning and elder care

As we live our lives, there is an opportunity to learn from history, which provides a greater understanding of where we are, who we are, and what we could be doing presently. Hence, Adult Education has included sessions like:

  1. Let's take a look at the Ecumenical Creeds
  2. The Dynamics and Issues of RCA Missions in the Context of World History
  3. Great Men and Women in Church and World History
  4. What Does It Mean to Be A Reformed Christian?

We are a church placing great value on mission and outreach. Hence, we have offered sessions on:

  1. The Radically Changing Nature of Missions in the future. Forget the Old Images of Missionaries… It's a Different World!

Frequently, members and friends are encouraged to discuss the day's sermon or other issues of concern with our Pastor.
